OUR PLANS MULTIPLIED

In the beginning, JD adamantly only wanted two children. I thought that four would be perfect. Once we caught God's vision of putting orphans into families, our plan was multiplied by God. We are currently blessed with 12 children; five biological, six adopted and one more waiting in Ethiopia. Our first adoption was from the U.S., the next three were from Liberia, West Africa, and our last two were from Ethiopia. We are supporting our 12th child in Ethiopia after her adoption could not pass court.

Monday in Ethiopia

Monday morning was our embassy appointment in Ethiopia. It was the only time that the girls were allowed out with us, until the airport. We got them dressed in their new clothes and headed out.

Selah was very quiet on the long and traffic crammed drive; we were concerned that she was car sick. Once we were at the Embassy, they both were withdrawn and clingy. There was a little playground area that we attempted to play with them at and neither would even get off our laps. When were were leaving the Embassy, we asked the adoption director who met us there to reassure them that we were all going back to the compound. Once he did that, their entire demeanor changed and they were chatty and happy once again.

However, without warning, Bella did get car sick and throw up on herself and Alei. Our kind driver pulled over and did his best to clean up both of them with some rags that were in the van.

What was funny was the little crowd that gathered to watch us. Once I laughed a bit with them, they felt comfortable to move in and evaluate the situation with the Americans.

I'm going to conclude this post with some picture of the streets in Addis Ababa. I loved driving around just to see more of the city.

  1. They are so cute, and I am so glad that you are one day closer to bringing them home.
