I posted several days ago about the ministry that we visited in Ethiopia that worked in orphan prevention. They ran a free day-care for moms that would otherwise likely have to place their babies in orphanages. While most of the moms worked jobs around town, these ladies had very young breast-fed infants and made paper bead necklaces right at the compound. We had already planned on purchasing many necklaces to help fund our third Ethiopian adoption for Brooke, Bella's biological sister that is 12, so we bought out their inventory.
Each bead on each necklace is rolled by hand from old magazine pages. They are then treated and strung into beautiful necklaces.
Here's a group shot of them working -

Here are the necklaces that we came home with. Not all of them are made by the women in the picture above, but I do have those separated if you want one by the ladies at Embracing Hope Ethiopia. We are going to sell them for $15 each ($3 shipping), but I am running a special through Monday that if you buy three, you can pick a fourth for free. I think $3 shipping should cover up to four necklaces. |
Just email me at jenandkids@va.metrocast.net what color family you want and I will send you my address for a check. I can also do paypal if that is easier.
Here's a shot from the other side -
These make a nice Christmas present that benefits a Mom in Ethiopia and our adoption. Thanks for your support!
