OUR PLANS MULTIPLIED

In the beginning, JD adamantly only wanted two children. I thought that four would be perfect. Once we caught God's vision of putting orphans into families, our plan was multiplied by God. We are currently blessed with 12 children; five biological, six adopted and one more waiting in Ethiopia. Our first adoption was from the U.S., the next three were from Liberia, West Africa, and our last two were from Ethiopia. We are supporting our 12th child in Ethiopia after her adoption could not pass court.

The Next Two Weeks

We spent the weekend busy as usual. While I sat in the light rain at a soccer game, JD started installing energy-efficient foil in the attic. While that job stretches over as many cool mornings as he can find, we also laid out the lines for our raised garden beds. We are building two this year, then planning on adding five more over the next few years.

We are still in limbo with Gabriel's immediate-future plans. An opportunity has presented itself that he may delay his entry into the military a year for. Other than that, I have only a week to decide if our family is going to do summer swim team this summer; we generally swim every summer, but feel we may wish to focus on other things this summer.

Looming this next two weeks are two big events that I also need to focus on. Alei turns 16 on Thursday and we are hosting a big 18/16 combo birthday party for her and Gabriel on Sunday. Whenever you have loads of youth, you need loads of food! So, we are preparing a bon-fire, volley-ball court, the game-room and lots of food. I'm so hoping it doesn't rain as it so often seems to whenever I'm brave enough to plan a large number out-side event.

Once we pull off Sunday's party, we are heading on a big trip the next Friday. My niece is getting married and Alei is in the wedding. We decided to combine the wedding with a long, long over-due family vacation, so we rented a house near the beach in Charleston, S.C. for the week.

I really need to get organized, because while writing this I realized that Alei's dress is in and we need to go pick it up.
